Hi, I'm Dr Jack Madden

Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Periop Concepts

I'm an anaesthetist from Tasmania, Australia with postgraduate training in clinical teaching. There is no sugarcoating it, we are in an education crisis for perianaesthesia nurses. Never have graduate supervision periods been shorter, and never have educators been this under-resourced. 

Periop Concepts has worked with ANZCA, ASA, ACN and ACPAN to develop an endorsed curriculum that is accessible, reliable and achievable for anaesthetic nurses. 

We work with individuals, educators and institutions to provide the most up-to-date curriculum in peri-anaesthesia nursing.

Hi, I'm Andrew Goyen

Chief Operating Officer at Periop Concepts

Andy gets people. With extensive experience in perioperative nursing, Andy is responsible for the Periop Concepts brand and reputation.

Andy completed his Bachelor of Nursing in 2016 at the University of Tasmania, and holds a Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing. Andy spent 5 years working in operating theatres as a scrub nurse and anaesthetic assistant before progressing to the role of Perioperative Services ANUM at Royal Hobart Hospital.

In 2022, Andy was chosen for the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist for the emerging THS Statewide Trauma Service. This role involved oversight and liaison between multiple specialties for trauma patients from admission to discharge.

Andy brings to Periop Concepts a vision for expanding our reach to individuals and institutions who seek to build knowledge in perioperative nursing.

Hi, I'm Sophie Dash 

Chief Curriculum Officer at Periop Concepts

Sophie is an experienced perianaesthesia nurse with a comprehensive background in anaesthesia nursing, recovery nursing, and acute pain services.

She completed her Bachelor of Nursing at LaTrobe University in 2011, holds a Graduate Certificate in Anaesthetics and Recovery and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Medicine with a specialisation in Pain Management. 

Sophie joined our team in September 2024, and has since become an integral part of our team, effectively onboarding and liaising with our Nurse Education Program Educators. She also excels in creating, designing, and delivering educational content for our social media platforms and Concept Series articles. She will deliver Advanced Anaesthesia Live Series Sessions on various topics in 2025 and beyond. 

Sophie brings a unique and valuable perspective to our organisation and members, combining her clinical knowledge with a passion for education. 

Hi, I'm Olivia Gargioni

Social Media & Content Creator Specialist for Periop Concepts

Liv brings a rare blend of clinical expertise and creative talent to the Periop Concepts team. A registered nurse with nine years of experience across anaesthetics and recovery - spanning public hospitals, private facilities, trauma settings and rural contracts - she has a deep, firsthand understanding of perioperative nursing and the challenges faced by practitioners every day.

Alongside her clinical career, Liv has developed a genuine passion for content creation and health communication. She has grown her own social media presence organically, created widely shared content, and previously held a coaching and content role supporting nurses through burnout. She is also a qualified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Hypnosis, and a Holistic Health Practitioner.

At Periop Concepts, Liv is focused on building our community, through captivating content that educates, inspires and connects, and helping us fulfil our mission of building knowledge and improving safety for perioperative clinicians.

Digital Specialist for Periop Concepts

Hanzala is a highly skilled member of the PC team, who drives everything from customer relations and brand campaigns to setting up our monthly live series workflows and automations - all from Pakistan, often while the rest of us are still asleep!

He’s a dedicated, diligent, and collaborative team player, and we’re incredibly grateful to have him on board. Hanzala continues to expand his role and expertise within Periop Concepts, and the business simply wouldn’t operate at the level it does without his contributions.

Hi, I'm Brock McFarlane

Finance & Business Advisor for Periop Concepts

Brock is a Chartered Accountant and Partner at Baytax Advisory, with over eight years' experience helping businesses improve financial performance and achieve sustainable growth.

He works closely with the Periop Concepts team, providing management reporting, budgeting, cash flow forecasting and strategic financial advice. Brock supports the business by turning financial data into practical insights that assist with decision-making, planning and long-term growth.

As Periop Concepts continues to expand, Brock works alongside the team to develop financial strategies, monitor business performance and provide commercial guidance to support the organisation's ongoing success

Hi, I'm Libby Fegan

People & Operations Consultant

Libby is a Registered Nurse and strategic health leader with extensive experience across perioperative nursing, health service operations, clinical governance, workforce and program delivery.

Her career has evolved from frontline clinical practice into senior leadership and consulting roles across health and community services. She has led multidisciplinary teams, managed significant operational budgets and provided strategic and operational support across recruitment, compliance, governance and service improvement.

Libby brings a practical, systems-focused approach to improving the way organisations operate. She enjoys working alongside teams to find practical solutions, strengthen processes, build capability and turn strategy into meaningful action.

Passionate about people, continuous improvement and high-quality healthcare, Libby is committed to helping organisations build sustainable, efficient and people-focused ways of working.

Member Experience Specialist for Periop Concepts

McKinley is the friendly face behind the Membership Experience at Periop Concepts.

She is the person behind the emails, helping our members feel supported, informed and looked after every step of the way.

Interestingly, McKinley’s background isn’t in healthcare — it’s in agriculture. She has spent much of her career working across agriculture, events, administration, and local government.

While health and education may be a new industry for McKinley, she brings a fresh perspective, a strong work ethic and, most importantly, a genuine passion for helping people. She loves being part of the Periop Concepts team and learning more about the incredible work of the perioperative community.
